                Connect! Create! Communicate! Express!

                      NEW SUMMER HAND DRUMMING                   BEGINS MAY 22nd at DRUMZ, 3700 1/2 Kerbey Lane!

Celebrating creativity, compassion, communication, and community through rhythm and music! If you have a heartbeat, you have rhythm! Join us in a supportive circle of new friends and teacher, Sherry Gingras, and learn a new way of expressing yourself as you learn to speak the language of the drum!   

Remember, we all have rhythm and we all share a basic human need to express and share rhythm in our lives! Learn the basics of rhythm and hand drumming as we explore the fundamentals, learn traditional West African rhythms and songs, AND create in the moment music pieces together in a safe and supportive circle at the ending of each class! Music feeds the soul and frees the spirit! Don't miss the chance to find and explore the musician who lives inside of YOU, regardless of your skill level or level of experience.

Wednesday Evenings
Beginner/ Beyond Beginner  Djundun classes- For those students who want to play the big African bassdrums ( sticks will be available for purchase or bring your own. Djunduns will be provided or bring your's!) Come learn to play these powerful bass drums and gain a deeper understanding of these amazing West African rhythms in exploring  the djununs relationship to the djembes and the rest of the ensemble!  6:45pm-7:45pm  Begins May 22nd.

Beginner Djembe- “Exploring the Magic of Hand drumming” for those students just starting off on the drummer’s path and those who are novices on their way! If you have a heartbeat, you HAVE rhythm! Beginners learn basic hand technique and fun exercises to develop the techniques, some rhythm fundamentals, drum circle etiquette, tuning a drum, selecting a drum, and African rhythm and song, and some improv secrets to playing percussion well with others in a group setting. Everyone has rhythm...it is our mother tongue!  And music is our Universal language! Come learn a fun, primal, creative, liberating  new language~the language of the drum. Meets 8pm-9pm starting May 22nd.

Thursday Evenings -Intermediate Level Drumming, Djundun and Djembe, learning traditional West African rhythms and songs. This class is for students who have studied djembe and traditional patterns and have experience with djundun and djembe. Moves at a faster pace and works with more complex rhythms and solo phrases.etc. Please ask the instructor if you have a question about this class being a match for you! 7-8:30pm. Begins May 23rd. Cost: $120


Saturday Mornings
Beginner Hand drumming, Exploring the Magic! Join us for this introduction to the art and magic of drumming as a language for the spirit!  Drumming for fun and for creative self-expression! 10-11am beginning May 25th.

Beyond Beginner Classes For students who have had enough beginner level classes to feel very at ease and relaxed when learning rhythm patterns orally! We move at a faster pace, learn more difficult patterns, more complex exercises, and begin to play djun/bell combination patterns. Relaxation ,listening, moving ahead only when ready .are really important keys for students wishing to become experienced ,skilled, fluid drummers! Take your time, enjoying being where you ARE on the drummer’s path! Meets 11:15am-12:15pm beginning May 25th.

All Women’s Drumsista Classes start May 28
7:30pm-8:30pm  Join us for this exciting and powerful experience with the women & drum! *Must have your own drum and have completed at least one Beginner Session at Drumz. 12 week performance class takes place every February for our Big Hildegirl/Drumsista big Spring Benefit Concert
