DRUMZ Hand drumming Class Schedule for SUMMER 2018!

                    Please join us for the new session of hand drumming classes at DRUMZ starting Wednesday evening11th! Classes are in 4 or 6 week sessions. 

             We meet weekly for an hour unless otherwise noted.. Cost per regular session is $100.  The expression and sharing of rhythm is our birthright and is a basic human need! Rhythm is a natural part of who we are as human beings and everyone has a natural sense of rhythm….when we walk we express rhythm…when we talk we express rhythm…when we breathe we express rhythm…everything inside of us and every thing around us is in rhythm all the time! Come learn the basics of rhythm as we explore the fundamentals, learn a traditional West African rhythm and song, AND end each class with an impromptu in-the-moment rhythm we create together a safe and supportive circle of new friends!Music feeds the soul and frees the spirit! Monday in Briarcliff  Afternoons at 4pm!

 Women’s All level hand drumming class in Briarcliff ( Lake Travis area) 4-5pm. Call Sherry at 512-453-9090 for details. Begins July 9^th at 4pm.$100

Wednesday Evenings

Beyond Beginner Djundun classes- For those students who want to play the big African basss drums ( sticks will be available for purchase or bring your own. Djunduns will be provided or bring yours!) 6:45pm-7:45pm  Begins July 11^th .$100 for 6 weeks. 

Beginner/Beyond  Beginner- “Exploring the Magic of Hand drumming” for those students just starting off on the drummer’s path and those who have starteds and are on their way! If you have a heartbeat, you HAVE rhythm! Beginners learn basic hand technique and fun exercises to develop the techniques, some rhythm fundamentals, drum circle etiquette, tuning a drum, selecting a drum, and African rhythm and song, and some improv secrets to playing percussion well with others in a group setting. Everyone has rhythm...it is our mother tongue and music is our Universal language! Come learn a fun, primal, creative, liberating  new language~the language of the drum. Meets 8pm-9pm starting July 11^th.$100 for six weeks.

Thursday mornings 10:30am-12 noon

 WOMEN”S ALL LEVEL DRUMMING INCLUDES DJEMBE AND DJUNDUN. Special 1 ½ hour class for Beyond Beginner/Intermediate level players. $150 per six week session. Starts 7/12/18

Saturday Mornings

Beginner/Beyond Beginner Djembe and Djundun Class, This class will focus on both djembe and djundun as we explore the ensemble style playing of West African music. We will also work on technique and learn exercises to help develop good hand technique. This class is good for those newly on the drummer’s path as well as those who have taken a few sessions and want to continue to develop as drummers or to expand and add djundun to their experience as we will play both in this session. Class begins July 14th and is a 4 week session. COST:$70

 Beyond Beginner/Intermediate Krin Class-The African log drum is a dynamic and exciting instrument to play!  Played with special krin sticks, this class in Krin requires some knowledge of sticking technique and some previous Krin experience. We will have a beginner Introductory level in Krin this Fall! Class begins Saturday July14th from 11:15am-12:15pm.
